Getting to know someone by ‘dating’ them was an alien concept to me until I met my wife. Typically, I would meet someone through friends, or through a social situation etc. However, as I got older, I decided to try online dating and by some miracle I met the love of my life.
As I arrived on her front doorstep, I nervously rang the doorbell and waited in anticipation. While I waited, I couldn’t help but notice the darkening skies and the few drops of rain that were beginning to descend on me – it wasn’t looking promising as we were supposed to be heading out to a corn maze.
What started out as a somewhat timid, nervous game of bowling descended into a raucous, no-holds-barred competition to see who could manage to get the ball down the lane without hitting the gutter. Laughing, joking the whole time and with an uncomfortable amount of high-fives and awkward-congratulatory pats on the back.
My stomach fluttered with anticipation and my heart pounded with excitement of what (I thought at the time) could turn into a beautiful relationship – and I wasn’t wrong. Six years later and I couldn’t imagine my life without my best friend and partner, my wife.
When Jennifer from imodel management contacted me to do some Calgary lifestyle photography for a group of newly signed models, we finally decided that we were going to do a double date night. We had a super-good time, despite having to be up and at the venue for 7am on a cold, December morning. I think that the photos perfectly capture the energy that we had on set, but also capture the nervous excitement and care-free energy of a date-night.
